Common Questions

In your first private Pilates session, you can expect a welcoming, personalized experience designed just for you. We’ll begin with a relaxed conversation about your goals, any past injuries, and how your body feels day to day, so your session is tailored to your needs.

You’ll be gently introduced to the mat and/or reformer, learning foundational movements with guidance on proper form and alignment. Throughout the session, your instructor will offer supportive feedback and simple adjustments to help you feel confident, comfortable, and safe.

Because every body is different, exercises will be customized to suit you, and modifications are always available. The focus will be on building strength, stability, mobility, and body awareness through controlled movement and breath.

Above all, your first session is about helping you feel supported, empowered, and excited about your Pilates journey. You’ll leave feeling more connected to your body and confident in your practice.

“In 10 sessions you will feel a difference; in 20 sessions you will see a difference; and in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.” — Joseph Pilates

Every body is different, but this quote reflects what many clients experience with consistent practice. In the first few weeks, you may begin to feel stronger, more flexible, and more aware of how you move. As you continue, you’ll likely notice improved posture, tone, and balance.

With regular sessions, Pilates supports lasting strength, mobility, and confidence in your body. It helps reduce tension, improve alignment, and make everyday movement feel easier and more natural.

There’s no pressure to be perfect — consistency and care are what matter most. With guidance and encouragement, you’ll continue to grow stronger, more connected, and more comfortable in your body.

Pilates is a gentle, empowering journey toward feeling your best — strong, balanced, and supported every step of the way.

It’s completely normal to feel unsure when you’re new to Pilates. Learning something new takes time, and there’s no expectation to be perfect. Pilates is a practice of patience, awareness, and gentle progress.

In the beginning, simply showing up and learning how to move, breathe, and connect with your body is already a success. With consistent practice, your strength, flexibility, and confidence will naturally grow.

Pilates isn’t about “getting it right” — it’s about moving with intention and care. Small, mindful movements often create the biggest changes. As long as you’re listening to your body and staying present, you’re doing exactly what you should be doing.

Your instructor is there to support you, offer guidance, and adjust exercises to fit your needs. You’re never expected to do this alone.

Trust the process, be kind to yourself, and know that every session is helping you build a stronger, more connected body — one step at a time.

How often you practice Pilates depends on your goals, schedule, and how quickly you want to progress — but consistency is what matters most.

For beginners, one or two private sessions a week is a great way to build a solid foundation and learn proper form. As you gain confidence, you might add a group class or short at-home practice.

Once you’re more comfortable with the movements, practicing two to three times a week — mixing private sessions, classes, and home practice — can help you see faster improvements in strength, flexibility, and body awareness. For those looking to make Pilates a core part of their routine, three or more sessions a week can refine technique and deepen your connection to your body.

Even small, focused sessions at home reinforce what you learn in the studio and help you stay consistent. The right frequency is always what fits your body, goals, and schedule — the key is showing up and moving with intention.

For your Pilates session, wear comfortable, fitted clothing that lets you move freely and allows your instructor to see your alignment clearly.

Tops: A fitted shirt or tank top that moves easily with your shoulders and arms works best. Avoid anything too loose that might get in the way.

Bottoms: Fitted leggings, yoga pants, or athletic shorts let you bend, stretch, and move without restriction.

Feet: Pilates is usually practiced barefoot to connect with the floor and equipment, but grip socks are also fine if you prefer.

The key is comfort and ease of movement — when your clothes move with you, your session will feel smoother and more effective.
